This Easy Oreo Cake Balls recipe is a delightful no-bake dessert that combines crushed Oreo cookies with creamy softened cream cheese, coated in smooth white candy melts. Perfectly bite-sized and simple to make, these cake balls are an irresistible treat for parties, holidays, or whenever you crave a sweet snack.

Ingredients

Oreo Cake Ball Mixture

  • 24 Oreos
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese

Coating

  • 10 oz white candy melts (Ghirardelli brand preferred)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (optional, to thin candy melts if needed)

Instructions

  1. Crush Oreos: Finely crush all 24 Oreos using a food processor or by placing them in a sealed zip-top bag and crushing with a rolling pin. Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix with Cream Cheese: Add the softened cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or spatula until the mixture is cohesive and holds its shape when squeezed. If the mixture feels too dry, add cream cheese by the teaspoon until it reaches the right consistency.
  3. Form Cake Balls: Scoop out about 1-inch portions of the mixture and roll them into smooth, compact balls. Place the balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for at least 15-20 minutes until firm to handle.
  4. Melt Candy Coating: Melt the white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. If the melted candy is too thick for dipping, thin it by stirring in heavy cream one teaspoon at a time.
  5. Dip Cake Balls: Remove the chilled cake balls from the freezer and dip each one into the melted candy coating. Use a fork or dipping tool to coat each ball thoroughly, allowing excess coating to drip back into the bowl. Return the coated balls onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Set Coating: Allow the coated cake balls to set at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until the coating firms up. For extra decoration, drizzle additional melted candy melts or dark chocolate over the top.
  7. Chill to Firm Up: Place the cake balls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to fully set the coating and firm the cake balls. Serve them at room temperature for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use softened cream cheese for easier mixing and better texture.
  • Freezing the cake balls before dipping helps them hold their shape.
  • White candy melts can be substituted with milk or dark chocolate if preferred.
  • Add a teaspoon of heavy cream gradually if candy melts are too thick for dipping.
  • Store leftover cake balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
