Delicious and easy-to-make Gooey Mozzarella Pepperoni Croissant Rolls featuring flaky crescent dough filled with melted mozzarella and savory pepperoni, baked to golden perfection and served with optional marinara dipping sauce.

Ingredients

For the Rolls

  • 1 package Crescent Roll Dough pre-made dough
  • 8 oz Mozzarella Cheese fresh slices or shredded
  • 24 slices Pepperoni 3 slices per roll
  • 1 Egg optional for egg wash
  • 2 tbsp Butter melted
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning fresh herbs can be substituted
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce optional for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is ready for baking.
  2. Prepare the dough: Open the crescent roll dough package and gently separate it into individual triangles on a clean surface.
  3. Add cheese: Place a generous slice or amount of shredded mozzarella cheese at the wide end of each dough triangle.
  4. Add pepperoni: Lay 3 slices of pepperoni evenly over the mozzarella on each triangle.
  5. Roll the dough: Starting from the wide end, carefully roll up each triangle, tucking in the filling to prevent leakage.
  6. Apply egg wash: Beat the egg if using, and brush the tops of the rolled crescents to help them brown beautifully.
  7. Prepare baking sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the rolls spaced evenly on it.
  8. Brush with butter and seasoning: Melt the butter and stir in the Italian seasoning, then brush this mixture generously over the tops of the rolls.
  9. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the rolls for 14 minutes or until they turn golden brown and puffy.
  10. Cool and serve: Allow the rolls to cool for about 3 minutes before serving. Optionally serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use shredded mozzarella if fresh slices are unavailable.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the rolls with egg wash before baking.
  • Substitute Italian seasoning with dried oregano or basil if preferred.
  • The marinara sauce adds a perfect tangy dip but can be omitted for a simpler snack.
  • Ensure the rolls are tightly rolled to prevent cheese leak during baking.
  • These rolls are best enjoyed warm for the gooey cheese experience.
