These Delicious French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups are a creative twist on the classic French dip sandwich, featuring tender roast beef and melted cheese wrapped in soft flour tortillas, baked to golden perfection, and served with a savory au jus dipping sauce. Perfect as a hearty appetizer or snack, these roll ups combine easy preparation with rich flavors.

Ingredients

For the Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

For the Au Jus

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the roll ups evenly.
  2. Assemble Roll Ups: Lay the tortillas flat on a clean surface. Evenly distribute the thinly sliced roast beef and shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese across each tortilla, ensuring an even filling.
  3. Roll and Secure: Roll each tortilla tightly from the bottom up, folding in the sides as you roll to keep the filling securely inside and create neat roll ups.
  4. Season and Butter: Brush the outside of each rolled tortilla with melted butter. Then sprinkle them with garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley for added flavor and a golden finish.
  5. Bake the Roll Ups: Place the roll ups on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until the outside is golden brown and the cheese inside is thoroughly melted.
  6. Prepare the Au Jus: While the roll ups bake, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook gently for 5 to 7 minutes to develop a rich dipping sauce.
  7. Serve: Once baked, slice the rolled tortillas into bite-sized pieces. Serve warm alongside the hot au jus for dipping, creating a perfect balance of flavors and textures.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced roast beef for best texture and flavor integration.
  • Feel free to substitute mozzarella with provolone or a cheese you prefer for melting.
  • Adjust seasoning on the au jus according to taste, especially the salt and pepper.
  • For a crispier exterior, bake a few extra minutes but watch carefully to avoid burning.
  • These roll ups can be assembled ahead and baked fresh when ready to serve.
