Delight in the luxurious taste of Easy Pistachio Croissants, featuring buttery croissants filled and topped with a rich pistachio cream made from whipped heavy cream and pistachio paste. This elegant yet simple dessert or snack pairs perfectly with tea or coffee for a decadent treat.

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 2 croissants

Pistachio Cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1.5 tablespoon pistachio paste

Toppings

  • 3 tablespoon chopped pistachios
  • 3 tablespoon pistachio paste (loosened with a drop of oil if thick)

Instructions

  1. Chop Pistachios: Finely chop the deshelled pistachios and set them aside for garnishing later.
  2. Whip Cream and Sugar: Pour the heavy cream into a bowl, add the sugar, and use a hand-held electric whisk to whip it for three minutes until it starts to thicken.
  3. Add Pistachio Paste: Incorporate 1.5 tablespoons of pistachio paste into the cream and continue whipping for another two minutes until stiff peaks form, creating a rich pistachio cream.
  4. Slice Croissants: Use a knife to carefully slice each croissant in half horizontally, preparing them for filling.
  5. Fill Croissants: Transfer the pistachio cream into a piping bag or use a spoon to generously fill the croissant halves with the cream, then close them back together.
  6. Top with Cream and Nuts: Add a dollop of pistachio cream on top of each croissant in the center, then sprinkle the chopped pistachios over the cream for texture and flavor.
  7. Drizzle Pistachio Paste: Drizzle the remaining 3 tablespoons of pistachio paste over the croissants. If the paste is too thick, mix in a drop of oil to loosen it for easier drizzling.
  8. Serve: Serve these elegant Pistachio Croissants alongside your favorite tea or coffee for a delightful treat.

Notes

  • To loosen thick pistachio paste, add a small amount of neutral oil such as vegetable or grape seed oil.
  • For a lighter version, use whipping cream with lower fat content.
  • Make sure to whip cream until stiff peaks form to achieve a stable pistachio cream filling.
  • Use fresh croissants for best texture and flavor.
  • Chopped pistachios can be toasted lightly for extra crunch and flavor.
