A flavorful and creamy Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta recipe combining crispy fried shrimp with a spicy, tangy sauce tossed with al dente spaghetti. Perfect for a satisfying lunch or dinner that’s quick to prepare and packed with bold flavors.

Ingredients

For the Pasta:

  • 12 oz Spaghetti
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (for pasta water)

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 2–3 tablespoons Sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (optional)

For Garnish:

  • 2 Green Onions, sliced
  • Red Pepper Flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Drain the pasta, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water for later use, and set the pasta aside.
  2. Prepare the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry using paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper. Coat each shrimp evenly with cornstarch. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and fry the shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey (if using). Adjust the sriracha amount to reach your preferred level of spiciness.
  4. Combine: Return the cooked pasta to the skillet. Pour the Bang Bang sauce over the pasta and toss to coat thoroughly. Add some reserved pasta water as needed to loosen the sauce. Gently fold in most of the fried shrimp, keeping some aside for garnish.
  5. Serve: Plate the Bang Bang Shrimp Pasta and top with the reserved shrimp. Garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired for extra heat.

Notes

  • Use peeled and deveined shrimp for the best texture and ease of eating.
  • Adjust sriracha quantity based on desired spice level.
  • Honey in the sauce is optional but adds a pleasant sweetness to balance the heat.
  • Reserve pasta water to adjust sauce consistency without diluting flavor.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy shrimp at their crispiest.
